- Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring in reading and math, following the curriculum provided by the program.
- Reinforce reading concepts such as letter recognition, phonics, and comprehension, and math concepts including number recognition, basic arithmetic, and problem-solving skills.
- Monitor and assess student progress during tutoring sessions, reporting any concerns or successes to the Classroom Teacher.
- Engage students in interactive learning activities that are both educational and enjoyable, fostering a positive attitude towards learning.
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment, addressing any behavioral or academic challenges in collaboration with the Classroom Teacher.
- Communicate regularly with the Program Coordinator and Classroom Teachers to discuss student needs, program improvements, and any challenges encountered during volunteer shifts.
Qualifications:
- A passion for helping students succeed.
- Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with and motivate students.
