ORGANIZATION: Idealist.org

Recruiting Organization: Caring Hospice Services of Connecticut

Volunteers Needed at Caring Hospice Services! Caring Hospice needs your kindness and compassion for our hospice patients.

Caring Hospice Services is a unique and holistic service designed to meet the social, emotional, spiritual, and physical needs of our patients and their families as they face terminal illness. Our volunteers are crucial to our service and mission to bring comfort and joy to those who need it the most.

The Caring Hospice office is located in Stamford, CT but we have patients located in various facilities and private residences throughout Fairfield County.

Hospice volunteering is flexible and so rewarding! You choose your schedule, where you want to go, and what you want to do.

We have many volunteer opportunities to choose from including, but not limited to:

    • Patient Companion - Visit the patients wherever they call home. Read a book, listen to music, watch TV/movies, talk about current events, or just sit and hold their hand.
    • Complementary Therapy - Pet Therapy, Music Therapy, and Art Therapy.
    • Share A Talent - Perform for the patients by singing, dancing, doing magic tricks, etc.
    • Administrative Support - Assist our staff in the Stamford office with filing, copying, shredding, etc.
    • Marketing Support - Assist our marketers with assembling care packages and gift bags.
    • Crafting - Make various items from the comfort of your own home to be delivered (by us) to the patients. Make blankets, memory pillows, stuffed animals, greeting cards, scrapbooks, fidget mats/blankets, and more.
    • Bereavement Support - Send letters and condolence cards to the grieving family members of our recently lost patients.
    • Phone Calls - Call the family members to check-in and see if they need any supplies or support.

"The heart of a volunteer is not measured in size, but by depth of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of others."
