VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - 16th Annual SCD Educational Summit

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Cayenne Wellness Center

Volunteers are indispensable to our work. They are the driving force behind our Summit, our advocacy, and our outreach. We truly could not do what we do without the support of volunteers and are always in need of help to make sure that patients with sickle cell disease receive the best support and care they deserve.

Why: Supporting Cayenne Wellness Center (CWC)'s 16th Annual Sickle Cell Disease Educational Summit: Unpacking Sickle Cell 2024: One Warrior At A Time, clients, caregivers, and the Sickle Cell Disease and Trait community at large will experience an event of excellence and networking. Over 600 people can be educated and benefit from this educational 4-day event.

Who: Cayenne Wellness Center is dedicated to health promotion and disease prevention in children, adolescents, their families and the general population. The mission of Cayenne Wellness Center is to improve the nutritional and mental health of the public.

What to Expect:

Volunteers can participate in various ways throughout the summit. Here are some of the assignments:

Registration - The registration process consists of the volunteers assisting and supporting through the welcome, check-in, event materials & brochure delivery, a bag of goodies delivered, and parking ticket validation, among others. The process applies to speakers, moderators, attendees, presenters, and other volunteers getting signed in and being assigned to tasks.

Tech Support - The tech support team helps with the projector screen, thus making sure that correct information is being displayed to the audience as the presenter presents. Other tasks might be asked by the tech team, the volunteer must be tech-savvy.

Testimonials & Evaluations - Your engagement skills need to be sharp. The volunteer would need to seek opportunities to get attendees, speakers, moderators, sponsors, and others to respond to our CWC's Testimonials Form. The final goal is to have at least 80% of the attendees respond to the form. On the other hand, evaluations need to be responded to before the day concludes, hence the volunteer needs to be present in the session room and discretely remind attendees to scan the Evaluations QR Code. The volunteer must be willing to patiently explain how to respond to the forms and support the interested party.

Capturing Moments | Social media (taking photos and videos - uploading them to the CWC Summit drive) - The Capturing Moments Volunteer role is to make sure they capture highlighting moments of the event such as the presenter, audience reactions to presenters, the event host and founder of the organization as well as all working staff. The volunteer needs to upload these photos within 48-72 hours of the event taking place to the drive after editing the photos if needed. CWC will be provided with tablets to take these videos and photos. A professional photographer will be present, hence, the volunteer must cover the time he is not present in the event or spend time creating captions and graphics to be posted during or after the event.

Vendors Support/Exhibitor Booth Support -

CWC Vendor Table - This table must be attended throughout the event. Your customer service skills must be sharp and engage the participants who attended the event in learning and donating to the sickle cell community by purchasing different keepsakes such as postcards.

Hertz Nazaire Exhibit - The volunteer needs to make sure to communicate politely and clearly that: a) no food or drinks are accepted in the exhibition room; b) people cannot touch or take individual pictures of the pieces; c) people are not allowed to take any pieces out of the exhibitor room; and d) the volunteer must keep track of everyone who enters the exhibitor room, but asking them to sign up their name, email, and phone number. The exhibitor room must be looked after from 8:30 am - 7:30 pm PST.

Volunteers receive lunch, a shirt to wear on shift, goodie bag and 2 movie tickets!
