Position Overview: As a Volunteer Kennel Assistant at Happy Life Animal Rescue, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being and comfort of our furry residents. This hands-on position involves caring for the animals in our kennels, helping maintain a clean and safe environment, and providing the love and attention these pets deserve while they wait for their forever homes.
Key Responsibilities:
Feeding and Hydration: Ensure all animals are fed and have fresh water throughout the day.
Cleaning and Sanitizing: Regularly clean kennels, bedding, and surrounding areas to maintain a hygienic and pleasant environment.
Exercise and Socialization: Take dogs for walks, provide playtime, and interact with cats to keep them active and happy.
Monitoring Health: Observe animals for any signs of illness or distress and report any concerns to staff.
Grooming: Assist with basic grooming tasks such as brushing, bathing, and nail trimming.
Restocking Supplies: Help keep food, cleaning supplies, and other necessary items organized and stocked.
Qualifications:
A love for animals and a strong commitment to their well-being.
Ability to handle animals of various sizes and temperaments.
Willingness to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and cleaning.
Dependability, punctuality, and a positive attitude.
No prior experience is necessary, but previous experience with animals is a plus.
Time Commitment:
A minimum of 3 hours per week, with shifts available both morning and evenings.
Attendance at a volunteer orientation and ongoing training as needed.
