Join Us on September 15th to Commemorate 9/11 with a Community Service Project!
Location: Amalgamated Housing Community, supported by Riverdale Y.
Purpose: We come together to distribute food and essential items to over 450 individuals in need. This event honors the resilience and unity of all in New York.
Who Benefits from This Project:
Older Adults: Particularly those who are homebound.
Families in Need: Struggling with increased living costs.
Amalgamated Housing Community: Facing a 45% rent increase this summer, this community is home to over 800 retired individuals.

Details of the Day:
7:30 AM: Arrive at 74 Van Cortlandt Park South, Bronx, NY 10463 (Entrance on Hillman Ave).
8:00 AM: Unload the truck, organize food for at-home deliveries and in-person pick up.
9:00 AM: Deliver over 200 bags of food to older adults.
10:00 AM: Open doors for in-person distribution to over 200 people.
12:00 PM: Distribution ends, clean up by 1:00PM
What to Expect:
Weather: This is a partially outdoor, rain-or-shine project. Be prepared for all types of weather - wear sunscreen, bring a hat, poncho, sweater, and a bottle of water.
Arrival: Please arrive on time. Late arrivals should wait for a staff member to onboard and assign tasks.
Community: Engage with community members with a sense of dignity, offering a smile, a nod, and a kind word to alleviate their concerns.
Donations make this work possible:
$10,000: Supports a volunteer coordinator, providing access to food for older adults at Riverdale Y.
$30,000: Provides food for retirees commuting from Yonkers in need of kosher food.
$200,000: Supports a food distribution hub that feeds the entire community, including Friendly Fridges, St. Stephen's pantry, and more.
Riverdale Y enriches lives by cultivating universally-shared values central to Jewish life, through educational, cultural, wellness, and service programs for all.
Description
The Riverdale YM-YWHA is a multi-generational agency providing informal education, leisure time activities, and social services to meet the recreational, social, and cultural needs of the Jewish and the general community. Since 1909, the Y has worked to strengthen Jewish identity, family life and survival, while reinforcing Jewish cultural values and enriching the life of the Jewish community, and society as a whole. The services, programs, and facilities of the Y are available to all residents of the community regardless of race, color, religion, or sex.
