ORGANIZATION: Alliance for African Assistance

The staff at the Alliance for African Assistance cannot meet the holistic needs of refugee newcomers alone. This is an opportunity for community members to play a role in welcoming US resettled refugees to help strengthen the host communities and help the refugees feel at home. Support like this improves the likelihood that the resettled refugees will become empowered, contributing members of society.

The MTS Transport Mobilizer Volunteer will be responsible for a escorting a group of at least 5 resettled refugees to the bus for a demonstration. An interpreter will be available to help alongside. Topics needed to be covered during the demonstration would include: how to access and navigate public transportation (buses and trolleys), providing information and support on where to get MTS passes, and how to use Google Maps or read pamphlets to navigate and know which buses to take for their destinations.
