The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for managing the Meal Groups who come in through our Family Meal Program to provide a meal for our families. Preparing a meal for our families is a wonderful way for groups to support the House. Consequently, there are numerous guidelines to follow and rules to remember that can make it stressful for the group.

The Kitchen Supervisor is vital to the success of the meal. Their purpose is to provide support and direction to the group throughout the meal. The goal is to provide a nice meal for our families and a rewarding time for our group while staying within our preparation and clean-up guidelines.

We depend on the Kitchen Supervisor to welcome our groups to the House, direct them through setup, and be available to answer questions that arise.

The Kitchen Supervisor must be diplomatic, comfortable giving directions, resourceful, enjoy working with people, and have a good sense of humor. This position requires someone mature and confident.

This is a non-paid volunteer position.

Hours/days needed:

•Saturday & Sunday

•12:30p to 5:00pm

Responsibilities include:

Pre-Meal:

•Set up - Ensure all needed items and spaces are available

•Greeting the Group, completing forms, escorting them to the kitchen

•Guide the group as needed, ensure safe food handling and answer questions

Dinner:

•Once dinner is prepared it is cooled to the correct temperature.

•Food is put into containers and then into the family fridge for families to take at their convenience.

•Make sure the kitchen is clean, all items put away.

General:

•Notifying House Manager of any problems, concerns, or emergencies.

•Record Volunteer hours following each shift.

Qualifications/Skills:

•Volunteers must be 21 years of age or older

•Volunteers must be vaccinated against COVID-19 and prepared to show proof of vaccination.

•Friendly, positive, and confident, assertive yet diplomatic.

•Good communication skills and ability to give direction

•Desire to work with people in achieving a goal

•Dependable and flexible
