Duration: 3-6 months (with possibility for extension)
About Us: We are a dedicated team of volunteers working on a meaningful project to develop a mental health app designed to reduce the stigma of depression and improving mental health by creating a journaling app that helps users journal together in a community. Our mission is to create an engaging, user-friendly app that empowers users to take charge of their mental well-being through creative journaling. We are seeking a talented Frontend Developer to bring our vision to life with a beautiful and intuitive user interface.
Role Overview: As a Technical Writer, you will play a critical role in crafting clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation for our mental health app. You will collaborate closely with developers, designers, product managers, and other team members to translate technical information into user-friendly content. Your work will ensure that both our team and our users have the information they need to understand and use the app effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including API documentation, system architecture descriptions, and technical specifications.
- Create user manuals, guides, and FAQs that are clear and easy to understand for non-technical users.
- Collaborate with developers and designers to gather information and ensure accuracy in documentation.
- Review and edit content for clarity, consistency, and accuracy, ensuring it aligns with the app’s goals and user needs.
- Assist in the creation of training materials, tutorials, and onboarding guides for new users or team members.
- Ensure all documentation is up-to-date, well-organized, and accessible to the team and users.
- Participate in team meetings and provide input on documentation needs and strategies.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience in technical writing, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly content.
- Excellent written communication skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Familiarity with software development processes and terminology.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including developers and designers.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously.
- Passion for mental health and a commitment to contributing to a meaningful project.
Why Volunteer with Us?
- Contribute to the development of a meaningful app that can positively impact mental health.
- Collaborate with a diverse and passionate team in a supportive environment.
- Gain hands-on experience in technical writing for a real-world project.
- Make a difference while enhancing your writing skills and expanding your portfolio.
How to Apply: If you’re excited about this opportunity and have the skills to help us create clear and helpful documentation for our mental health app, we’d love to hear from you! Please send your resume, writing samples, and a brief introduction to MJ@thelovestory.org by August 14, 2024.
