Lake James State Park receptionists greet all park visitors, contractors, and visiting staff who come to the new visitor center looking for information, recommendations, and directions. Receptionist's job duties include:

  • Engaging with guests politely and providing them with information, maps, brochures, and freebies.
  • Answering phone calls and taking messages.
  • Operating a point-of-sale system for a small gift shop.
  • Counting money and generating daily financial reports.
  • Basic interpretation of the natural and cultural educational exhibits in the main hall.
  • Occasional data entry and typing assignments.

Receptionists must be well-groomed and have a sociable demeanor, and they also must adhere to the Division of Parks and Recreation's regulations and policies.

Description

Located in Burke and McDowell counties 50 miles northeast of Asheville, Lake James State Park includes two areas to access this picturesque lake that is perfect for boating, swimming, and fishing. Campsites at both Catawba River and Paddy's Creek accesses provide an opportunity to spend the night by the lake, with some sites accessible only by paddling. Trails include bike trails at Paddy's Creek, the kid-friendly Holly Discovery Trail, the historic Overmountain Victory Trail, and the Fonta Flora State Trail.
