Description
Meta Spoon Health aims to create a platform for global health and education. The organization is inspired by "Spoon Theory," or a metaphor for chronic illness. The theory states that those with chronic difficulties are given a number of "spoons" or amount of energy that varies per day. Each task drains a number of "spoons" and "spoonies," the phrase for those with chronic illnesses must make choices to preserve their spoons and save enough energy for the day. The Spoon Theory expresses the amount of mental and physical energy needed to perform seemingly simple tasks and puts into perspective how health issues impact a Spoonie’s day.
We are an umbrella organization for acts of service. We understand that people, specifically those with chronic illnesses, live differently and are not understood. To combat this feeling, we encourage people to educate and spread awareness that everyone deals with different struggles, and we have to be understanding since we do not fully understand. Because people do not understand, this often leads to poor mental health and extra stress. Our message will be spread through meaningful partnerships by offering our services to organizations and people in any way that they may need, which can range from donations and sponsorship to emotional support. We seek to provide a sense of belonging to anyone and everyone.
