Favoured Hospice is looking for a companionship volunteer for one of our patient's located at a nursing facility in Hastings, MN. As a companionship volunteer, you would just act as a friend toward this patient - whether its chatting, strolling around the unit or outside, coloring or painting, reading to her, etc. She is often lonely and struggles to connect with the residents on her unit as she is very quiet, so having someone there to provide companionship would be very impactful for her. She is wheelchair bound and does experience Alzhiemer's/dementia. The time commitment is flexible to your schedule, but we would like to have at least one visit every 2 weeks at the minimum. A background check/fingerprinting will need to be done in addition to a brief hospice orientation.

Volunteers are a vital part of our dedicated hospice team. By offering a few hours of their time a month, they bring peace, joy, and comfort to individuals navigating the last chapter of their life.
Volunteer roles: Companionship, pet therapy, card making, hairstylist, music, and vigil.
Service area: We serve patients throughout Minnesota wherever they consider home. This could be a long-term care center, assisted living, group home, private home, etc. Most of our current patients reside in Champlin, Ramsey, Plymouth, Minnetonka, Bloomington, and Monticello, but we are always continuing to grow and expand!
Time commitment/schedule: Flexible to your schedule! Visits can be made during the week or weekend. We usually ask that our companion/friendly visit volunteers visit weekly or every other week for about an hour.
