ORGANIZATION: Enhabit Home Health

There are so many ways to touch a life. It's an honor to make a difference in someone's end of life journey. Sending birthday and holiday cards, taking a moment to listen to their life experiences and jot them down for family to share for years to come. Giving a listening ear on the phone or in person. Sitting with a patient to keep them company while the caregiver keeps doctors appointments, banking needs and other errands.

Sitting with a patient so their caregiver has a chance to get outside and work in their garden or walk the family pet.

We deliver fresh flowers to our patients and caregivers often from local florist donations, making this delivery puts a smile on their faces.

About Enhabit Home Health

Location:

2115 W. Main Street, Gun Barrel City, TX 75156, US

Mission Statement

At Enhabit Home Health and Hospice, we believe hospice is no a place, but rather a philosophy of care. Our goal is to bring dignity and comfort home by offering compassionate care to patients and their families during the final stages of life.

Description

Enhabit is looking for volunteers to provide a wide range of services to patients and their families during their final months and weeks of life. Volunteers provide non-medical services and respite time for caregivers and family members. As a hospice volunteer, you will be given choices as to how much and what types of things you want to do.
A few ways you can help as a hospice volunteer is by giving companionship to our patients while their family members can keep doctors appointments, run to the store and take care of banking needs. Playing games, reading to patients and sometimes even journaling memories they'd love to leave for their family. Writing birhday cards and holiday cards as these might be their last ones to celebrate. Making calls once a week to check on supplies and any other needs as you build a relationship and give them someone to talk to on the phone.
