Mission Statement

Our mission is to alleviate poverty among marginalized girls and communities in Kenya through an integrated approach that addresses education, health, economic empowerment, and life skills, enabling beneficiaries to make sustainable changes for self-sufficiency. We aim to inspire rural girls to pursue STEM careers, reducing the gender and skills gap in STEM, increasing women's employment, and spurring economic growth.

Description

Founded in 2010, Riley Orton Foundation Org (ROF) provides holistic education and promotes gender equality in STEM education to ensure girls and communities have the agency to realize their full potential.
ROF supports educational advancement by providing high school and college scholarships, school uniforms, menstrual hygiene supplies, underwear, and bicycles for rural girls. We aim to eliminate barriers to quality education and ensure students reach their full potential. Our structured STEM and life skills camps engage students in activities like coding, robotics, digital storytelling, and climate entrepreneurship, fostering critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Our Sare Designs Vocational Education program enhances economic resilience for out-of-school girls and young women through training in tailoring, garment making, financial literacy, digital marketing, and entrepreneurship. Participants gain valuable skills and access resources like credit and microgrants to start their own businesses.
The Akili Suites Project addresses housing challenges for rural teachers while supporting girls' education through scholarships and vocational training. By building affordable housing units in Kanyawegi village, Kisumu, we improve teachers' living conditions and support their vital role in the community. Revenue from the Akili Suites project funds scholarships and vocational training programs for girls, helping them pursue their dreams and build a brighter future.
