- A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
Join our team of friendly and compassionate volunteers during our pantry's Mass Distribution!
Mass Distribution happens on the LAST THURSDAY of every month, and volunteers are typically expected to arrive between 8/8:30 am and stay until 11:30 am or until all groceries have been distributed, whichever comes first.
WHAT IS MASS DISTRIBUTION?
Distribution at the pantry on this day is different than usual. On the last Thursday of every month, we receive a large shipment of products from the Regional Food Bank (typically around 8 - 12 palettes). Anyone can come collect food regardless of whether they have already visited the pantry twice this month, and we do not do intake. There are both walk-up and drive-up lines, which means we have a group of volunteers outside serving the cars and a group inside to serve the walk-ups.
Responsibilities:
- Breaking down palettes
- Packing products
- Distributing packages to guests
- Keeping track of how many guests attended Mass Distribution
- Cleaning up
This is a great volunteer opportunity for large volunteer groups!
Not only will you be helping others, but you will have fun doing it. What more could you ask for?! Sign up to volunteer today and make a positive impact in your community!

Mission Statement
We connect people to resources they need for healthy eating, self-care, and community building. We collaborate with our neighbors to grow, source, learn about, prepare, and provide access to food; to bring people together around healthy life choices; and to look ahead together at ways to promote a thriving, interconnected community in Schenectady County.
Description
These core values express the heart of our commitment to the work that we do. In the strategic planning implementation, we will refer to our core values as we make decisions and set priorities.
Breaking barriers: We look to expand access to resources beyond traditional limitations. We work to remove stigma. We are charting new ground.
Lightening burdens: We seek to lighten the loads that people carry as they manage responsibilities for health, family, food, and basic needs. In all of this we aim to open space for moments of joy and peace.
Fostering dignity: We operate with mutual respect at all times and look to examine our policies, procedures, and practices to ensure that we are seeking to uphold the dignity of all.
Listening, responding, and adjusting: We are attentive to the needs and desires of the community and actively seeking to respond in meaningful ways to what we hear. In our responsiveness, we are committed to recognizing when we need to course correct based on what we hear.
