Coder/ Programmer for Unique Animal Welfare Startup
Volunteer Role Summary:
We are looking to add an IT professional experienced in coding to help us modify self hosting applications. You will work with our current IT volunteer who has a lot of experience with Windows but minimal Linux experience and aside from HTML, basically no coding experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Make modifications to self hosted free and paid apps
Ensuring apps are error free and troubleshooting as necessary
Qualifications/Skills:
Familiar with Cpanel, PHP/ codeigniter and javascript programming
Ability to work independently and asynchronously in a remote environment
Detail oriented and not afraid to take and provide objective feedback
Previous startup and nonprofit experience is highly preferred
About Sanctuary Hostel
Sanctuary Hostel is an innovative nonprofit startup working to address the stray crisis all over the world, starting with Mexico. Our unique approach to addressing this problem involves building an eco-hostel that drives community-based animal welfare through educational programs. Our model plans to be self-sustaining in that we will not rely solely on donations and thus not be at risk of returning animals to the streets.
We currently have the land and architectural designs, and are currently fundraising for construction of the facility. As we continue to grow, we expect to collaborate and work with other nonprofits in both Mexico and the US to achieve our mission. Visit www.sanctuaryhostel.org for more details.

To create a self-sustained eco-friendly sanctuary where humans and animals can live in peace. By combining a hostel with the opportunity to volunteer with animal rescue, we offer you a place to stay, to help, and to learn about animals so enriching all our lives. You’ll also be able to give back and volunteer with animal rescue teams.
We are building an animal shelter/ hostel/ community garden. Our model aims to be self sufficient so we wont rely on donations in order to care for the animals we rescue. Travelers can stay and volunteer with us in exchange for a bed. The community can learn to grow and cook plant based meals with us.
