Join us in our heartfelt mission to create beautiful living spaces for homeless women in need. This initiative is not just about decorating a home, but about offering a sense of dignity, comfort, and hope to those who need it the most. No design experience is necessary to make a meaningful impact; all you need is a willing spirit and a desire to help.

Our project welcomes volunteers from all walks of life. Whether you have a knack for interior design or simply want to lend a hand, your contributions will be invaluable. Tasks range from setting up furniture to decorating the apartment and creating a welcoming environment. Every effort contributes to transforming empty spaces into warm, inviting homes where women can feel safe and cherished.

By participating in this initiative, you will not only be helping to improve the lives of homeless women, but you will also experience the joy of giving back to the community. It’s an opportunity to connect with others, learn new skills, and witness the powerful impact of collective kindness. Together, we can make a difference, one beautiful living space at a time. Join us and be a part of this transformative journey. Designed For Hope creating spaces that are more than just a home.

About Designed For Hope, part of CascadiaNow!

Location:

PO Box 30181, Seattle, WA 98113, US

Mission Statement

We are committed to designing soothing, beautiful homes for women at the crossroads of leaving homeless shelters, halfway houses, and transitional housing programs. We offer completely free full-service delivery, installation, and staging of interior design items (furnishings, decor, art, bedding, kitchen supplies, toiletries, and food in the pantry) needed for their new permanent home. Our mission is to help women struggling with homelessness through interior design, because four walls alone do not make a home.

Description

Designed For Hope is a non-profit interior design organization with a mission to provide design services to homeless women and their children who might otherwise not have access to it. Audiences include women that exist at the intersection of a host of vulnerabilities, including but not limited to domestic violence, poverty, discrimination, housing insecurity, health and mental health issues, human trafficking, and PTSD in the Seattle area.

The audience includes women and their families that exist at the intersection of a host of vulnerabilities: including but not limited to domestic violence, poverty, discrimination, housing insecurity, health and mental health issues, human trafficking, and PTSD in the Seattle area.

Introducing homeless women and their families to a stable housing environment that includes soothing design has long-lasting effects that can impact health, education, and employment throughout their lives and in future generations:

  • The likelihood of re-experiencing displacement or homelessness is decreased.
  • In children, educational outcomes also improve with housing stability.
  • Young people are less likely to repeat a grade and less likely to drop out of school and as they grow to adulthood, it inspires them to maintain a standard of living they can be proud of and thrive in.
  • Increased financial stability by allowing funds to be used for other essential items.
