Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid - In-person and Remote)
Position Type: Volunteer
Time Commitment: Approximately 10-15 hours per month
Reports to: President of Austin NOW

Position SummaryThe Treasurer is a key member of the Austin NOW Executive Committee, responsible for overseeing the financial management and fiscal health of the organization. This role includes maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, ensuring compliance with national bylaws, and supporting fundraising efforts.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including income, expenses, and bank reconciliations.
- Manage the organization's bank accounts and ensure timely deposits and disbursements.
- Monitor cash flow and ensure sufficient funds are available to meet operational needs.
Budgeting and Reporting:
- Collaborate with the Executive Committee to develop an annual budget.
- Prepare and present monthly financial reports to the Executive Committee and membership.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
Compliance and Record Keeping:
- Ensure compliance with all financial policies and procedures as outlined in the national bylaws.
- Maintain records of all financial transactions, including receipts, invoices, and bank statements.
- Prepare and submit required financial documents and reports to the national organization as needed.
Fundraising Support:
- Assist in developing and implementing fundraising strategies to support the organization's goals.
- Track and report on fundraising income and expenses.
- Ensure proper acknowledgment and recording of donations and grants.
Audit and Review:
- Facilitate internal and external audits and financial reviews.
- Implement recommendations from audits to improve financial management practices.
Committee Participation:
- Actively participate in Executive Committee meetings and discussions.
- Collaborate with other committee members to achieve organizational objectives.
- Support other committees with financial guidance and assistance as needed.
- A commitment to the mission and values of Austin NOW.
- Experience in financial management, accounting, or bookkeeping.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly and effectively.
- Integrity, transparency, and a high level of professionalism.
- Previous experience in a nonprofit organization is preferred but not required.
