If you've ever been alone, sad, afraid, weak or confused and someone came to just sit with you; then you know the feeling of companionship. Without any words we can bolster someone into a more confident, peaceful feeling in their bodies.
Hospice patients are often alone most of the day with only someone checking in on them to see if they have needs. A hospice volunteer visits, sits with, smiles for and brings peace to our patients. There is no goal to attain, or measured outcome. Yet, presence is a profound gift, and it is felt at the soul level.
Join us, we need more volunteers to sit with patients, sometimes talk, sometimes just watch TV together or play cards, help them write letters. The opportunities are endless.
Volunteer to touch another soul and you will find that you are also blessed.
