Looking for 2 volunteers during the timeframe of 8/1/2024 to 2/28/2024, minimum commitment is 30 days.
Position Description: Provides clinical and administrative assistance to Yosemite Medical Clinic (YMC). Performs a variety of support tasks in a family practice/urgent care setting. Typical tasks involve: Registration, scheduling, interviewing patients to elicit their medical history; measuring and recording vital signs; phlebotomy; assisting patients to be comfortable and safe at all times while in the clinic; preparing patients for and assisting with the completion of physical examination (may act as in-room chaperone during patient-provider encounters); assisting provider and nursing personnel (i.e., "clinical personnel") by carrying out instructions to expedite patient care; informing patients about the care they receive under the guidance of clinical personnel; relaying and reinforcing health information to patients, consistent with care plans devised by clinical personnel; ensuring exam rooms and clinic areas are cleaned in between patients and stocked with proper level of medical supplies; as requested, participating in public health and community outreach activities; documenting information in the electronic medical record application (may require government network access); scanning, copying and transmitting information via electronic means; assisting with greeting patients and answering phones; demonstrating familiarity with and practicing compliance with standards and requirements such as patient privacy protection (e.g., HIPAA Privacy Rule), universal precautions guidelines for health care including bloodborne pathogens, and NPS policies and procedures. Other duties in support of the clinic operation may be assigned from time to time. Additional opportunities including ambulance ride-a-longs and participation, and search & rescue incidents may be available.
Note: Medical or nursing students between 1st and 2nd year, pre-medical, allied health student or experienced EMT with a minimal of EMT-B certification.
