Banded Together Against ALS, an event to benefit MAC Angels Foundation will take place on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at 1 pm at Woodbridge Brewing Company, Woodbridge, NJ.

Banded Together Against ALS will commemorate the life of Edison NJ Police Sgt. Joseph Luistro, who lost a valiant battle against ALS in May 2024. Luistro was the Edison Police Department’s first Asian-American officer. The funds raised through Banded Together Against ALS will advance MAC Angels Foundation’s services for patients, families and caregivers throughout the New York City metro area who are impacted by ALS. The event will feature great food, opportunities to win raffle prizes from local businesses, and inspiring stories from the ALS community, according to Kelly Corwen, President of MAC Angels Foundation.

"When a family receives the diagnosis of ALS, they are faced with an overwhelming array of questions, paperwork, medical advice, financial and logistical challenges, and life-altering changes. Conventional health care does not begin to address the complexity of these needs. This is where MAC Angels Foundation steps in to fill a void in services," Corwen said. "Events like Banded Together for ALS help increase awareness of the needs of the ALS community and provide the funds needed to help those impacted by ALS with the resources they need."

Mission Statement

The mission of MAC Angels Foundation is to enhance the quality of life for patients, family members and caregivers impacted daily by ALS, by providing the compassion, education and unique resources needed to manage the devastating effects of this disease.

Description

MAC Angels started in 2010 to support individuals and families living with ALS. We were formed in honor of Larchmont native Claire Collier, who bravely fought ALS, a devastating degenerative neuron disease that often leaves those with the disease completely immobile.

MAC Angels uniquely understands the day-to-day needs of an ALS patient and their family. We are able to evaluate and offer support for any need from medical transportation to emergency grants to handicap-accessible ramps. We also understand the stresses and burdens of caregivers, so do what we can to alleviate that burden. We partner with over 30 other non-profits to really try to make the quality of life better for those living with the disease.
