ORGANIZATION: Meals on Wheels San Diego County

Make a difference in the lives of seniors today! Use your organizational and communication skills to help us manage the front desk at our new administrative building and meal center.

As an Administrative Volunteer, you'll be the friendly face that greets our clients, volunteers, staff, and partners as they enter. Assist us by welcoming visitors, answering phones, handling mail, and performing other administrative tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Answer and direct phone calls to appropriate staff.
  • Greet visitors and provide them with necessary information or assistance.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail, including sorting, distributing, and preparing mailings.
  • Input and update data in the organization’s databases accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain electronic and hard copy filing systems.
  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating meetings and events.
  • Prepare and distribute correspondence, memos, and forms.
  • Maintain office supplies and equipment; order supplies as needed.
  • Assist with special projects and events as needed.
  • Provide support for fundraising activities and community outreach efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for helping seniors and veterans.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Complete a Live Scan background check that reviews FBI and California criminal records.
  • Sign and review the In-Office Volunteer form.
  • Successfully complete the Administrative Volunteer orientation.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable and punctual with a positive attitude.

Requirements:

Standard office environment. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Must have a California valid driver’s license or state ID. Physical requirements include standing, sitting, typing, bending, and lifting to approximately 35 lbs. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Must have reliable transportation. Successful candidates for this position will be subject to a background check as a condition of volunteering.

Onsite at 9590 Chesapeake Dr. San Diego, CA 92123

Hours:

We are seeking long-term, recurring volunteers for any day Monday through Friday, from around 9 AM to 2 PM. You can volunteer for one day or multiple days, and the schedule is flexible.

We are recruiting caring individuals who would like to be a part of our organization by delivering healthy meals to seniors. Delivery drivers are able to work as few or as many hours as they wish on a temporary or long-term basis. Training is provided to all volunteers.
