Job Overview:
H.Y.P.E. to Empower, Inc. is currently looking for individual(s) who are enthusiastic, dedicated, and capable of contributing to the grants management team. While prior expertise is not mandatory, an eagerness to learn and a willingness to work collaboratively in a grant management capacity are essential traits.
This position involves overseeing the entire grants lifecycle, from identifying potential funding opportunities to managing awarded grants and ensuring compliance with funder requirements. The specialist will work closely with program leads and other team members to align funding with organizational goals, effectively manage projects and timelines, and organize grants within specific funding buckets. Additionally, this role requires ongoing communication with funders to build and maintain strong relationships.
Key Responsibilities:Grant Research & Identification:
Conduct thorough research to identify potential funding sources, including foundations, government agencies, and corporate sponsors that align with H.Y.P.E.’s mission and programs.
Monitor grant opportunities and stay updated on trends and best practices in grant-making and funding within the public health and nonprofit sectors.
Grant Proposal Development:
Collaborate with program leads to develop compelling grant proposals that clearly articulate program goals, objectives, outcomes, and budget needs.
Write and submit high-quality grant applications, ensuring they meet all funder requirements and deadlines.
Develop supporting documents, such as logic models, theories of change, and program narratives, to enhance grant applications.
Grant Management & Compliance:
Oversee the management of awarded grants, ensuring that all activities and expenditures are in compliance with funder guidelines and organizational policies.
Track grant deliverables, timelines, and reporting requirements to ensure timely and accurate submission of progress reports and financial statements.
Maintain organized records of all grant-related documentation, including agreements, communications, and reports.
Budgeting & Financial Oversight:
Work with the finance team to develop detailed budgets for grant proposals and manage grant funds effectively.
Monitor grant expenditures and ensure they align with approved budgets and funder requirements.
Assist in financial reporting for grants, including the preparation of budget narratives and expense reports.
Organize grants within specific funding buckets to ensure strategic allocation and efficient use of resources.
Project & Time Management:
Develop and manage project timelines to ensure that all grant-related activities are completed on schedule.
Coordinate with internal teams to align project milestones with grant deadlines and deliverables.
Implement effective time management practices to balance multiple grant projects simultaneously.
Collaboration & Communication:
Liaise with program staff to ensure that grant-funded activities are executed as planned and that any issues are addressed promptly.
Facilitate ongoing communication with funders, including responding to inquiries, providing updates, and ensuring ongoing positive relationships.
Collaborate with the communications team to acknowledge funders and share the impact of funded programs through various channels.
Monitoring & Evaluation:
Work with the evaluation team to monitor and evaluate the outcomes of grant-funded programs, ensuring that goals are met and impact is demonstrated.
Assist in the development of tools and processes to track and report on program effectiveness and outcomes.
Sustainability & Capacity Building:
Identify opportunities for renewing or expanding existing grants and cultivating relationships with funders to support long-term sustainability.
Provide training and capacity-building support to staff on grant writing and management best practices.
Additional Duties:
Participate in regular check-ins with the Executive Director or Program Development Lead to discuss progress and receive guidance.
Assist with other tasks and projects as assigned, including attending virtual or in-person meetings and events.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong interest in grants management, nonprofit funding, and public health initiatives.
Proven experience in grant writing, research, and management is highly preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
Proficiency in budgeting and financial management, with experience using relevant software tools.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote work environment.
Familiarity with the public health sector, particularly HIV/AIDS prevention and support, is a plus.
Experience in project and time management, with a demonstrated ability to balance and prioritize multiple grant projects.
Ability to organize grants within specific funding buckets to align with organizational strategies and priorities.
Strong interpersonal skills for building and maintaining relationships with funders.
Training: Training will be provided to ensure the specialist is equipped to perform their duties effectively.
Credit/Practicum Hours: If seeking academic credit or practicum hours, additional documentation will be required.
Flexible Work Arrangements: The position offers flexibility in work hours, with no set weekly hours, but interns are expected to meet deadlines and participate in weekly check-ins.
Remote Work: This is a remote volunteer opportunity, with the possibility of hybrid arrangements if in Metro Atlanta. Reliable internet access and a computer are required.
