ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

Wilson's Creek National Battlefield is located just outside of Springfield in southwest Missouri. The park commemorates the soldiers and civilians alike who fought in and witnessed the Battle of Wilson's Creek on August 10, 1861. Park staff are looking for motivated individuals willing to help us make a difference in sharing these and other stories to our visitors.

This position will primarily assist with staffing the visitor center information desk and Ray House and aid park staff during special events. This volunteer may also help with interpretation and education programs including living history, black powder demonstrations, and the fall K-12 field trip season depending on interest and skills. Training is available.

If you are outside of the local commuting area, the park can offset costs of RV camping in the Springfield, MO area. There are many campgrounds in the area with full hookups, on-site laundry, and Wi-Fi.

Workdays are flexible but this position is required to work 32 hours a week to maintain eligibility for RV camping reimbursement. Start and end dates are negotiable but we ask for, at least, one month of your time. A two- or three-month commitment is preferred.

Start Date - 2024-09-15

End Date - 2024-11-30
