Our Share My Meals volunteers recover healthy meals from commercial donor cafeterias and deliver to nearby non-profit organizations. Every meal saved stays out of the landfill, helping the environment, while also nourishing the local community in need.
This volunteer role would involve:
- picking up fresh food from our donor cafeteria in Edison, and
- delivering this food to our nearby non-profit partner.
Volunteers would need to use their own car to deliver the food. The delivery route will be a 30 minute drive or less. The pick up will be early afternoon during the week (not at weekends). We welcome regular participation but will work with your schedule. Insulated bags will be provided to carry the food donations.

Description
Share My Meals is a NJ-based nonprofit organization that fights both food insecurity and the environmental impact of food waste by recovering and delivering healthy meals to the local community. Working with its local partners, Share My Meals addresses both of these critical issues at once with a unique, tech-enabled model that recovers healthful, prepared meals, and delivers them to families in need. We collect balanced meals made from surplus prepared foods from commercial food service providers and distribute them directly to the homes of families and non-profit organizations, leveraging volunteers and technical solutions to create a seamless, sustainable model.
