Volunteers will participate in the Fort Washington Park artillery crew as historic weapon demonstrators on first Sundays from April through November. The role involves dressing in period clothing and firing canons at three different times in the afternoon.
Brief Description of Work to be Performed:
Volunteer tasks may include:
· Teaching visitors about the historic weapon demonstration
· Firing the canon
· Wearing period clothing and PPE
· Interacting with the public and answering questions
· Setting up physical barrier and ensuring safety for visitors and volunteers
· Giving safety warnings
· Participating in training and practice drills
Physical Requirements of Work:
· Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
· Wear natural fiber clothing (period uniform) including wool or cotton pants, coats and leather shoes and hearing protection (ear plugs).
· Standing for moderate periods of time in a variety of weather conditions.
Qualifications:
· Must be at least 18 years old
· Ability to be a team player, follow instructions, and implement safety techniques
· Strong communication skills
