Are you passionate about transportation planning or public transit? The Auburn-Opelika Metropolitan Planning Organization (AOMPO) is seeking dedicated volunteers to join our Citizens Advisory Committee. Here’s what you need to know:

Role of the Committee: The Citizens Advisory Committee plays an important role in shaping the future of transportation in our area. As a committee member, you’ll review local transportation plans and proposed changes in public transit and provide input. Your ideas and suggestions will be considered by the Metropolitan Planning Organization Policy Board, which allocates federal funding for the Auburn-Opelika Metropolitan Planning Area.

Expectations for Volunteers:

  • Residency: You must live within the Metropolitan Planning Area.
  • Commitment: You must be willing and able to read the plans and other documents prepared for and by the MPO.
  • Meetings: The committee meets between two and four times a year. In rare cases, it may meet more. Meetings are usually held at the Lee-Russell Council of Government office at 2207 Gateway Drive, Opelika, AL though attendance via Zoom is an option.
