Do you like to play video games, shoot hoops, watch baseball games or just have fun in your spare time? Then YOU have what it takes to be a mentor to a youth in need. Mentoring is a fun and rewarding way YOU can do what you love, and impact a life in the process.
Friends for Youth is a 40-year-old agency serving at-risk youth residing in San Mateo and Northern Santa Clara counties. With 90% of our friendships lasting past the first year, we strive to find mentors who wish to become a positive support system for the youth in our program.
As a mentor with Friends for Youth, you would be paired with a youth in your area who needs a consistent role model in their life, and that person will be you. Over the course of one year, you will meet with your mentee for a couple hours a week on your own schedule! You will also have access to:
* Group activities like bowling and miniature golf to name a few! * Free tickets to Giants, 49ers, Warriors, Sharks games and more!
Be a mentor in your community and make a difference in the life of a young person. To find out more about our program, visit us online at www.friendsforyouth.org.

Creating quality mentoring relationships for youth who need them most.
Friends for Youth creates and cultivates friendships between at-risk youth and adult volunteers who serve as positive role models, helping kids to grow into responsible, productive members of the community. We seek caring adults who would like to make a difference in the lives of young people.
For our longest standing 1-to-1 program, volunteers spend at least two hours each week with a child for at least 6 months, doing fun activities they both enjoy. Friends for Youth staff organize two to three group activities each month such as going to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, museums, plays or baseball games.
We also have our Group School-based Mentoring program, where volunteers get to mentor a small group of students at their campus. We work with grades 7-9 and mentor students across the Bay Area. Volunteer mentors help lead activities and facilitate discussions with the students, while making valuable connections like they would in a 1:1 setting!
Friends for Youth's Program Coordinators provide training and ongoing, individualized support to all volunteers to ensure the success of each friendship.
