Majani Project is looking for virtual (and some in-person) volunteers to help us craft a sound workforce development program for youth ages 15-18 for CY2025-2026. We're tired of hearing people bemoan issues plaguing Wards 7 & 8 and are determined to make a difference by focusing on youth employment beyond summer.

Want to be in on the ground floor of something unprecedented and completely brand new? Then join us and let's get started! Donate as much or as little time as your schedule allows! There are several components to the program so if you have experience in any of the following areas, get in touch with us and see how you can become part of something that will impact lives. We prefer that you live in Washington DC or the surrounding area (DMV).

Mission Statement

Our objective is to introduce Black and brown youth to genealogy as a way to empower, increase resilience, and and strengthen identity.

Description

Majani Project is a 501(c)(3) organization that teaches youth about family history. We organized in 2020 and launched the website in 2022. After a move to Ward 7, Washington DC last year, we've expanded our aims to include a social enterprise component where we intend to develop a pilot program using genealogy for youth workforce development.
