Program Overview
Through our Senior Hunger Program, Second Harvest Heartland provides a box of nutritious food each month to low-income seniors 60 years and over. Volunteers in this role provide excellent customer service to our seniors and work alongside other volunteers to ensure the distribution runs smoothly. We are all in this together and with your partnership we can deliver nutritious food to more seniors at risk of hunger.
What you’ll do:
- Assist site partners with set up for food box distribution
- Assist participants in moving through sign-in process and food pick up area
- Verify participants income eligibility
- Life and load a 35+ pound boxes of groceries

When and where will you volunteer: What’s Next
- Volunteer Location: Department of Indian Work, Little Canada MN
- Days of the week: 2nd Monday of the Month
- Time of day: 12:30pm - at least 3:30pm (Distribution runs 1pm - 6pm, but slows down around 3:30 - depending on need there may be months where you could be asked to stay later to support)

Description
Second Harvest Heartland is a leading hunger-relief organization. In partnership with more than 1,000 food shelves and hunger-relief programs in Minnesota and western Wisconsin, we provided over 167 million meals to neighbors last year. We also help families enroll in food assistance and provide prepared meals for people who need more than groceries.
