Community LINC provides transitional housing for homeless families on our campus at 40th and Troost, giving them the safety and skills to break the cycle of homelessness.
While parents are in classes on Tuesday and Thursday nights, their children attend our Children's Program, where they are taught life skills, resiliency, and academic lessons.
While Community LINC Staff organize the lessons and oversee every class session, volunteers are needed to provide extra support! Our volunteer team assists children with their lessons, projects, and crafts, helps prepare meals, and makes sure the nights go smoothly!
We are always accepting new additions to our volunteer team! If you enjoy engaging with children of all ages (we have kids ages 1-17 in our program), then this is the right place for you!
Children's Program meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30-7:30, but there is no minimum requirement for our volunteers: Come when you can!

Mission Statement
We aim to end homelessness for this generation and the next by providing transitional housing to homeless families.
Description
Community LINC's transitional housing program was created to equip homeless families with new skills to sustain themselves with little or no public assistance. We provide a safe, stable environment for families while they participates in strengths-based case management services, mental health counseling, life skills training and budgeting.
Each family lives in an apartment at no cost. However, everyone is required to save a minimum of 50% of their income. Weekly classes focus on employability, budgeting and life skills. We work to transition our families into permanent housing.- Some of the services provided in our program include:
- Life Skills/Parenting Classes
- Personal Budget Coaching
- GED Tutors and College or Vocational Support
- Employment support
- Assistance with finding permanent housing
