Volunteer as a STEM Educator for Civil Air Patrol
ORGANIZATION: Oak Ridge Composite Squadron, CAP
Please visit the new page to apply.

Civil Air Patrol's Oak Ridge Composite Squadron is seeking a volunteer to serve the Oak Ridge community as a Aerospace Education Member. Civil Air Patrol is the only entity nationally chartered by the US Congress to teach the science and history of aviation and aerospace.
An AEM is a special category of CAP membership that entitles educators to access products and programs designed especially for teaching aerospace/STEM Education and integrating this fascinating subject into the curriculum.
As an AEM, you will determine how to best utilize the many CAP aerospace/STEM education materials, programs, and products with your student(s) as you promote aerospace/STEM education. If a teacher wants to become more involved, there are many opportunities to attend workshops, to do a special activity with cadets or other community youth, and/or to assist in the development of new curriculum.
As an AEM you may recieve:
- Free K-12 Books. You can select up to six hard copy free books in your grade level area to be shipped to you, if so desired.
- Free K-12 STEM Kits. You can apply for one at a time of our variety of STEM Kits.
- Free K-12 Aerospace Excellence Award Program. This award program culminates with AEX certificates for the educator and student participants. To earn these award certificates, the educator will need to conduct 6 aerospace/STEM lessons from our many AEX books or other resources, AND, a 2-hour event, such as a rocket or hot air balloon launch; an airplane build and fly-off event; or a trip to a museum, airport, or other aerospace location.
- Free Flights on CAP Aircraft. Once per year an AEM may fly on a Civil Air Patrol aircraft as part of our Teacher Orientation Program.
