Volunteer Job Description: Social Media Campaign Volunteer

Position Title: Social Media Campaign Volunteer - Empower Your Voice: End Violence Against Women and Vote for Change

Organization: Austin NOW

Location: Remote (Volunteers can participate from home)

Commitment: Flexible hours, with a minimum of 5 hours per week. Some evening and weekend availability may be required.

Position Overview

Austin NOW is seeking passionate and creative volunteers to join our social media campaign team. As a Social Media Campaign Volunteer, you will play a vital role in raising awareness about ending violence against women and mobilizing voters to participate in the upcoming elections. This campaign, "Empower Your Voice: End Violence Against Women and Vote for Change," aims to educate, engage, and empower our community through strategic social media efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Content Creation

    • Develop engaging and informative posts, graphics, and videos for social media platforms.
    • Write compelling captions and messages that align with Austin NOW’s mission and campaign goals.
    • Create and share survivor stories, educational content, and event promotions.
  2. Social Media Management

    • Schedule and post content on Austin NOW’s social media accounts (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok).
    • Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and interactions on social media platforms.
    • Track engagement metrics and adjust strategies to maximize reach and impact.
  3. Campaign Coordination

    • Collaborate with the campaign coordinator and other volunteers to ensure cohesive and consistent messaging.
    • Participate in regular meetings to discuss progress, share ideas, and plan upcoming content.
    • Assist in promoting campaign events and workshops, such as the voter mobilization event and the "Empowerment Through Unity" event.
  4. Community Engagement

    • Engage with followers by answering questions, providing information, and encouraging participation in the campaign.
    • Build relationships with other organizations, influencers, and community leaders to amplify the campaign’s reach.
    • Encourage followers to register to vote and provide resources and information on how to do so.
Qualifications
  • Passion for Social Justice: Strong commitment to Austin NOW’s mission and goals, particularly in the areas of ending violence against women and promoting voter participation.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create engaging and persuasive content.
  • Social Media Savvy: Familiarity with social media platforms and trends, and comfort with using tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar.
  • Creativity: Ability to develop innovative and impactful social media content.
  • Dependability: Reliable and able to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of volunteers and staff.
Training and Support
  • Orientation Session: Initial training to understand the campaign’s goals, messaging, and social media strategies.
  • Ongoing Support: Access to a support team for assistance with content creation, social media tools, and any campaign-related questions.
  • Resource Materials: Access to a library of resources, including graphics, templates, and educational materials.
