Position Title: Volunteer Graphic Designer for Event Leaflets

Organization: Austin NOW

Location: Remote (Volunteers can participate from home)

Commitment: Flexible hours, with an expectation of at least 5 hours per week. Deadlines will be set based on project timelines.

Position Overview

Austin NOW is seeking creative and dedicated volunteers to help design and create leaflets for our upcoming events: the Ending Violence Against Women event and the Voter Mobilization event. As a volunteer graphic designer, you will play a crucial role in crafting visually appealing and informative materials that will engage and inform our community.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design Leaflets for Events

    • Ending Violence Against Women Event:
      • Create leaflets that provide information about the event, including date, time, location, and the importance of ending violence against women.
      • Highlight key speakers, workshops, and activities planned for the event.
    • Voter Mobilization Event:
      • Design leaflets that encourage voter registration and participation, detailing the event’s activities such as phone banking, door-to-door canvassing, and informational sessions.
      • Include information on the importance of voting and how individuals can register.
  2. Content Development

    • Collaborate with the Austin NOW team to gather the necessary content and information for the leaflets.
    • Ensure all content is accurate, engaging, and aligned with Austin NOW’s mission and messaging.
  3. Graphic Design

    • Use graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Canva) to create professional and visually appealing leaflets.
    • Ensure the design is consistent with Austin NOW’s branding and style guidelines.
  4. Review and Feedback

    • Submit drafts of the leaflets to the Austin NOW team for review and feedback.
    • Make necessary revisions based on feedback to ensure the final product meets all requirements and expectations.
  5. Printing and Distribution Preparation

    • Prepare the final designs for printing, ensuring all files are print-ready and meet the specifications of the chosen printer.
    • Collaborate with the team to plan the distribution strategy for the leaflets, including digital distribution via email and social media.
  • Graphic Design Skills: Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or Canva.
  • Creativity: Ability to create engaging and visually appealing designs that capture attention and convey information effectively.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and consistency in all designs.
  • Communication Skills: Good communication skills to collaborate with the team and incorporate feedback effectively.

Austin NOW is committed to advocating for women’s rights and issues including reproductive justice, voting rights, immigrant rights, ending violence against women, & ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment. Our organization hosts monthly meetings and collaborates with other organizations and NOW chapters across Texas and the United States. Austin NOW attends events like the Austin Women’s March, as well as rallies and protests throughout the year.


As the grassroots arm of the women’s movement, the National Organization for Women is dedicated to its multi-issue and multi-strategy approach to women’s rights, and is the largest organization of feminist grassroots activists in the United States. NOW has hundreds of chapters and hundreds of thousands of members and activists in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Since our founding in 1966, NOW’s purpose is to take action through intersectional grassroots activism to promote feminist ideals, lead societal change, eliminate discrimination, and achieve and protect the equal rights of all women and girls in all aspects of social, political, and economic life.
