Description
At Mental Melting Pot, we're committed to transforming mental health education by championing diversity and inclusivity. After noticing a glaring disparity in the representation of non-Eurocentric standards and non-White people in mental health education, we founded our organization last year as passionate high school juniors aiming to address this lack of diversity. We focus on bridging critical gaps in understanding by advocating for and providing access to culturally relevant mental health curricula through developing new curricula. Specifically, we want to develop and assemble easily usable kits for teachers to expose students to various regions' mental health perceptions and standards. In addition, we aim to fundraise to increase access to mental health education resources in low-income areas to expand access to mental health knowledge. Additionally, we aim to break language barriers by expanding access to mental health education in multiple languages. We are joined by a diverse group of advisors, covering various disciplines. These advisors have guided us in creating this organization and will continue steering us in the best direction as we expand with new volunteers. We have already expanded into discussions with local schools and hope to grow further by implementing a chapter system to increase our mission's reach. Please join us to volunteer or create a new chapter system!
