Mission Statement

Our Mission is to provide food, goods, community services and engagement to individuals and families we serve.

Description

Peace Haven is a nonprofit based in Hayward California. We are dedicated to families and individuals in need and have been making a positive impact in the lives of people around Alameda County. Our nonprofit started 4 years ago, during the pandemic. We began by providing prepared food and groceries to individuals and families, including to first responders (i.e. healthcare workers, fire departments and other public workers).

As we expanded, we realized we needed more than the one-on-one delivery format we were using and developed the idea of bringing a Freedom Store to Hayward. The Freedom store serves as a way of making consumer goods available to low-income individuals whilst preserving their dignity and creating employment/volunteer opportunities. We are working as a link between individuals/families and community resources. We also partner with other agencies that support people facing homelessness to help meet their additional needs.

Our Freedom store program provides essential services to individuals and families facing food insecurity in our community.

Our Freedom Store program serves a diverse population across Alameda County, including low-income individuals, families, seniors, children, and individuals experiencing homelessness. On average, we serve 450 individuals and families each week, with the demand steadily increasing. Those we serve reflect the rich diversity of our community and many languages are spoken as the community comes together at our doorstep.
