Bigs & Littles NYC is a nonprofit organization that has empowered NYC underserved communities and uplifted children and families of predominantly single-parent households across the city for over 120 years.

Our one-to-one mentoring program transforms the lives of young people, building hope and inspiring them to dream bigger, work harder to do well in school, and to plan for their future. Our volunteer mentors provide friendship, guidance, and support to a child aged 7-17 in NYC.

Our Bigs meet with their Littles to participate in fun community-based activities and explore NYC together.

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Commit to weekly phone-call with Little
  • Meet with Little 2x per month
  • Pick up/drop off Little for match outings using public transport, and brainstorm match outing activities with their Little (examples: museum
  • visit, ice cream in the park, outdoor sport, arts and crafts)
Qualifications/Skills:
  • Enjoys working with children
  • Spanish-speaking is a plus but not required
  • Is willing and able to finance match outings for their Little (low-cost and no-cost outings encouraged)
