Everyone Shines iCan Shine provides quality learning opportunities in recreational activities for individuals with disabilities. By creating an environment where each person is empowered to maximize their individual abilities, everyone can shine! Our flagship program, iCan Bike teaches people with disabilities to ride a conventional two-wheel bicycle during a weeklong program. Every effort made by the individual is acknowledged. Recreational skills can be difficult to master, so breaking skills into small, achievable goals and celebrating each accomplishment builds self-esteem and confidence needed to continue to learn to ride. Participants undergo a transformation from not believing they are able to ride a bike to believing "iCan".
iCan Bike is new to Oaks, PA so a great number of volunteers are needed to help make the program successful. We wanted to bring the opportunity for people with disabilities to learn to ride a two wheeled bike. The goal is to have a full camp of 40 participants with 2-3 volunteer spotters for each rider. Volunteers will be trained by the camp staff who also monitors the progress of the riders during the week.
Be a spotter helping people with disabilities learn how to ride a two-wheel bicycle, a lap counter or cheerleader at the iCan Bike Camp in Oaks, PA, at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center.
Volunteers may sign up for one or more 75-minute sessions for each of the five days, July 22-26, 2024. To Register go to https://icanshine.org/ican-bike-oaks-pa/
