Assist with set-up, clean-up, and/or general event support. Health & back-to-school fairs take place outside and serve hundreds of community members.

2pm-4pm Set-up volunteers will set up tables, chairs, canopies, food area, registration area, event signage, balloons, and kids activities for the event. They will also help vendors find their table and help set up their table/canopies.

4pm-6pm General event volunteers will do different tasks, such as: help at registration table, serve as garbage/recycling/compost monitors at trash cans, refill water/lemonade jugs, help serve drinks, help serve food, Emcee, DJ, deliver water bottles to vendors (and spray bottles if it is hot), lead youth activities (examples: photo booth, spinning wheel, obstacle course, soccer goal, football toss, frisbee toss, face painting, henna, art activities, bubbles, corn hole, etc), and/or help at NH outreach table.

5:30pm-7pm Clean-up volunteers ensure the health fair spaces are returned to their original states, which includes taking down tables, canopies and chairs and move back to building; taking down sound system; picking up garbage and sweeping; taking garbage to dumpster; cleaning up rooms inside; and putting furniture back the way we found it.

About Neighborhood House

Location:

1225 S Weller St, Suite 510, Seattle, WA 98144, US

Mission Statement

The mission of Neighborhood House is to help diverse communities of people with limited resources attain their goals for self-sufficiency, financial independence, health, and community building.

Description

We provide free services that are culturally and linguistically relevant to immigrants, refugees, public housing residents, and low-income community members in King County. Neighborhood House was founded in Seattle by the National Council of Jewish Women in 1906, and for 114 years has fought to end the cycles of poverty, racism, and social inequities.

We want to lift children out of poverty. We want them to be healthy and ready to be successful in school and life. We want these children grow up in safe and supportive homes and neighborhoods.

We want to lift families out of poverty by creating opportunities for economic self-sufficiency and asset building.

We want seniors to live healthy, independent lives with respect and dignity, surrounded by friends and a supportive community.

We want to build strong and vibrant communities where everyone feels an attachment to their neighbors and neighborhood, where they work together to solve problems and celebrate their cultural diversity.

And finally, we want to create a greener, more sustainable community where low income families live in neighborhoods that are free of pollution and buffered from rising energy costs.
