ORGANIZATION: FORT BEND COUNTY WOMENS CENTER INC

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide Guidance and Support to clients at Fort Bend Women's Center in creating professional resumes, preparing job interviews, and accessing employment resources on a volunteer basis.
  • Conduct one-on-one or group consultations with clients to understand their employment goals, work history and skill sets.
  • Assist clients in developing well-formatted, compelling resumes that highlight their qualifications and experiences.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for improving resume content and structure.
  • Conduct mock interviews with clients to help them practice effective communication and interview techniques.
  • Share tips and strategies for job searching, networking, and applying for open positions.
  • Familiarize clients with online platforms, career resources, and local employment services.
  • Offer encouragement and support.
  • Greet clients in a friendly and respectful manner.
  • Maintain a calm and professional demeanor.
  • Abide by the core values of: Service, Passion, Integrity, Respect, Innovation, and Teamwork.
  • Maintain survivor confidentiality at all times.
  • Effectively communicate with clients and team members.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in creating resumes and cover letters
  • Ability to work with diverse clientele
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of job strategies, interview techniques, and employment resources
  • Flexibility in schedule
  • Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, internet navigation)
  • Satisfactory completion on background check and drug screening

  • By volunteering in this role, you’ll be empowering individuals experiencing homelessness to take a significant impact on their journey and rebuild their lives.
  • Works with clients in a non-judgmental manner while employing victim centered, strengths based, and trauma informed perspective.
  • Support client self-determination.
  • Respects client’s autonomy and confidentiality.
