Sexual Assault Hospital Accompaniment Response Team (HART) Volunteer

Roles and Responsibilities
- Respond to requests for sexual assault hospital accompaniment that come in to the hotline from partnering hospitals.
- Quickly respond to a call when contacted by a hotline advocate, whether you can meet to the request or not.
- Arrive at the hospital to provide accompaniment within an hour of receiving the call from the hotline.
- Educate to clarify the process of forensic examination and explain the rights of the victims.
- Establish safety plan of client once they leave the hospital; facilitate placement of client into residential center if it is not safe for the client to return home.
- Obtain client information and incident status from the survivor, family/friends of the survivor, or police if available, record all information in "HART Folder Face Sheet’.
- Offer encouragement and support.
- Greet clients in a friendly and respectful manner.
- Maintain a calm and professional demeanor.
- Abide by the core values of: Service, Passion, Integrity, Respect, Innovation, and Teamwork.
- Maintain survivor confidentiality at all times.
- Effectively communicate with clients and team members.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Multi-Tasker with good organizational skills and time management skills.
- Can fit in with team dynamic or work alone in absence of supervision.
- Ability to work with diverse clientele.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility in schedule.
- Satisfactory completion on background check and drug screening.
- Completion of 40-hour OAG Direct Service Training.

- An enthusiastic personality is a MUST! We assist those struggling to achieve self-sufficiency. It is a rewarding job, but one that requires a great deal of optimism.
- By volunteering in this role, you’ll be empowering individuals experiencing homelessness to take a significant impact on their journey and rebuild their lives.
- Works with clients in a non-judgmental manner while employing victim centered, strengths based, and trauma informed perspective.
- Support client self-determination.
