RMHCDC eases the hardship of children’s illness on families through programs that directly improve the health and wellbeing of children. The Red Shoe 5k Run and Walk is an annual event held to raise critical funding for RMHCDC programs. This year, the Red Shoe 5k will return to National Harbor and NBC Washington's Chief Meteorologist , Doug Kammerer, will emcee the event!
The goal of this event is to give our community a way to come together, show support for families facing pediatric illness, and to have fun. Please join us for the 14th Annual Red Shoe 5k to help provide a no cost "home-away-from-home" for families with an ill or injured child being treated in area hospitals.

Mission Statement
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Washington, DC (RMHCDC) eases the hardship of children’s illness on families through programs that directly improve the health and wellbeing of children.
Description
We help families struggling with problems like how to stay near and support a hospitalized child, how to afford staying together in another city while a child is undergoing treatment, or even how to get basic medical care in a vulnerable community. We provide solutions for these and other issues related to easing the hardship of children’s illness on families through three core programs that focus on the critical needs of children, celebrating the diversity of the donors who make them possible, staying true to our heritage of responsible stewardship, and operating with accountability and transparency.
