STEM Montessori Academy of Canada (SMAC-SIAC) is a registered not-for-profit organization specializing in science, technology, engineering, and math. (STEM) programming is open to all students with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application. The SMAC will specialize in an advanced bar-none. STEM-based educational curriculum that emphasizes the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM)

We are expanding our programming to industry-specific, hands-on experiences. We require a Field Trip Supervisor Volunteer to help us keep the momentum going in support of the growth and development of these programs. We ask you to join us in continuing to serve the youth in our community.



Time Commitment: 4-8 hours per week from July 16th to August 16, 2024



Responsibilities:

⦁ Review field trip itineraries and student behavior expectations to familiarize yourself with the trip's goals and student conduct.

⦁ Assist teachers with headcount and ensure all students have necessary permission slips and medical information on file.

⦁ Actively supervise students throughout the field trip, prioritizing their safety and ensuring adherence to established rules and protocols.

⦁ Maintain a positive and supportive environment that promotes student learning and exploration.

⦁ Be familiar with emergency protocols and procedures outlined by SMAC in case of unforeseen situations.

⦁ Remain calm and take appropriate action to ensure student safety in the event of an emergency.



Qualifications:

⦁ A genuine interest in fostering a love of learning in children and a desire to support their educational experiences, particularly in STEM fields

⦁ A strong sense of responsibility with a commitment to ensuring student safety throughout the field trip. This includes maintaining a close watch on students, adhering to safety protocols, and being prepared to handle emergencies.

⦁ A positive and engaging personality that can connect with students of various ages, creating a fun and enriching environment that fosters curiosity and exploration.

⦁ Ability to work effectively with teachers, other volunteers, and students, fostering clear communication and collaboration to ensure a smooth and successful field trip experience.

⦁ The ability to walk for extended periods and potentially navigate uneven terrain may be required depending on the field trip location. This ensures you can keep pace with the students and access all areas of the field trip location.
