Volunteer Opportunities for Men & Women
There are many volunteer opportunities including relieving a caregiver, socializing with a patient, providing emotional support, playing music, games or running errands, practical assistance, bereavement, and helping in the office.
How to get started:
The first step to becoming a hospice volunteer is to contact the Volunteer Department. You will be asked to complete an application followed by an interview. You will then take the hospice online volunteer training. After completion of training, you will receive an in-person orientation.
Health clearance, vaccinations and a background check are provided through Sutter Health. Our volunteers are required to receive or show verification of an annual flu shot and Tuberculin skin test or blood test, provide immunization records or titers showing immunity to MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) and Varicella, show proof of TDAP (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis), complete a drug screen and a health screening, consent to a criminal background check, and submit a copy of current driver’s license and auto insurance. Sutter will provide health screening and any necessary tests or vaccinations. Volunteers work closely with Volunteer Program Coordinator as members of the hospice team.
For Information, please email our Volunteer Department at RSVLVolServices@sutterhealth.org
