Join our Job Search Assistance Team today! As a Job Search Support Volunteer, you'll play a vital role in assisting individuals in their job search journey. Provide guidance, support, and practical assistance to help them navigate the complexities of finding employment.
Training is provided and required. Volunteers are most satisfied in this position if they naturally have patience, practice a positive and resilient mindset, hold a non-judgmental view, and can maintain boundaries. Volunteers who possess these attributes, but lack knowledge about the job market, can learn about the job market through our training.
What would make you a good fit for this opportunity?
You enjoy meeting one-on-one in person weekly or biweekly
You are comfortable providing clear, kind, constructive feedback
You are an active listener and have empathy for those who are struggling
You recognize your goals might differ from your trainee’s goals
You ask questions to learn your trainee’s goals and preferred ways to be held accountable
You look forward to identifying action steps
You are familiar with job search strategies - resume writing, interview prep, and application steps
You have experience coaching or mentoring (helpful, but not required)

Description
Since 1975, People’s Resource Center has been bringing neighbors together to respond to hunger and poverty in DuPage County. With a team of over 1,500 volunteers, we offer nutritious food and other basic necessities like clothes and rent assistance for people facing tough times. And we connect people with resources--education and tutoring, jobs, technology, art, a caring community--to create a future of hope and opportunity for all.
Volunteer at PRC: Help in the food pantry or clothes closet, become a tutor, teach a class, organize a food drive, make a difference to a neighbor in need.
