Mission Statement

LitiArts provides literacy, arts education, and higher education mentorship to youth of color to sustain their identities, support their well-being, and enhance equity in their educational journeys. We support first-generation, college students of color prepare for and transition to college, throughout college, in the workplace, and beyond. We provide literacy & arts-based workshops to schools and communities to support students’ identities, build their confidence, and sustain their overall well-being. We also offer higher education mentorship to students before and during college.

Description

Founded in 2022, LitiArts is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to advancing educational equity for youth of color through literacy, arts education, and mentorship, prioritizing their identities and well-being. We bridge schools and society, offering programs to increase educational, career, and economic opportunities for youth of color. At LitiArts, we go beyond academics, using an educationally-just, anti-racist, and artistic approach to nurture creative expression, problem-solving, identity affirmation, and a sense of belonging among youth of color. Our holistic support addresses the social, emotional, and academic challenges that racially, linguistically, and ethnically diverse youth of color often face in school. We serve youth of color through three core programs:

  1. Virtual College & Career Preparation Fellowship Program
  2. Literacy-Arts School Studio Program
  3. Professional Development & Resources for Educators, Parents, and Caregivers
