Special Olympics Florida is excited to be hosting the Northeast Region Swimming Championships on August 10th in Ocala. Volunteers are needed to assist with the following roles:

  • Assist with event set-up and breakdown.
  • Check-in athletes and arrange them by heat. Escort athletes to the pool and their correct lane.
  • Utilize stopwatches to time athletes during competition.
  • Run scores and other messages between competition team and other departments (awards, announcer, etc.)
  • Prepare and present awards to athletes at the conclusion of competition.
  • Distribute lunch to delegation members and volunteers.

No knowledge of the sport is required and all training will be provided on-site. Volunteers will receive a FREE Special Olympics Florida T-Shirt as well as lunch during their shfit. A record of community service hours can be provided upon request.

Description

Special Olympics Florida provides sports training and Olympic-style competition to more than 60,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities and developmental disabilities throughout the state. Special Olympics Florida is a Level I Accredited Program (highest level of accreditation granted by SOI) and is divided into 11 area programs, which cover over 55 counties.
