ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

1. Volunteer will conduct sampling and data collection for the Natural Resources Division for Cape Cod National Seashore. Sampling will be conducted at the 6 lifeguarded CACO beaches every Monday from June 24 to August 26.


2. Volunteer will collect data by wading a few feet out from the shore.


3. Volunteer will use park provided equipment to collect basic data on water conditions, as well as water and air temperature.


4. Samples will be left in designated cooler at the Park Headquarters building to be picked up and delivered to Envirolabs for data analysis.


5. Volunteers will be anticipated to work for 5-hour shifts.


6. Wearing of an NPS VIP uniform is not required.


7. Independently drive and operate a government vehicle.


8. Use of government provided sampling equipment.


9. All training and equipment will be provided by NPS CACO staff


Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work well with a diverse workforce.
  • Good communication skills, including good listening skills.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to create a safe working environment.
  • Ability to wade safely in and out of shallow water environments.
