Description: The position requires a visionary thinker, someone who can develop systems that will meet the needs of the organization and build and foster a cohesiveness. Highly organized, resourceful, proactive and flexible; capacity to prioritize and multi-task and work efficiently. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of people and to remain calm in emotional situations. Outgoing, optimistic, people/person with exceptional interpersonal and team-building skill s. Strong commitment to the welfare and proper treatment of animals. Plan and execute a recognition program that ensures volunteers feel appreciated and acknowledged and provides daily management and coordination of volunteers. Possess diplomacy and adeptness in working across multiple departments and levels. This is a public-facing role that requires public speaking and working with the public. Strive to maintain a positive and supportive environment for volunteers and mentors. Professionally represent the mission, philosophies, and goals of the organization. Duties: a person holding this position will be responsible for :

  • Manage and coordinate activities with our volunteer team;
  • Review new volunteer applications;
  • Interview new volunteers;
  • Approve new volunteers for service;
  • Keep records of volunteers;
  • Develop material for the volunteer team;
  • Develop new innovative programs for the volunteer team;
  • Track volunteer hours communicate regularly with volunteers through updates via social media, email, text, phone and face to face conversations;
  • Coordinate all aspects of volunteer program including communications, retention, recognition, recruitment and placement;
  • Handle volunteer orientations and trainings including scheduling, set-up and presentations as required;
  • Recruit, train and lead one-time event volunteers to support Yoga Purr fundraising events, as necessary;
  • Write and maintain communications for the volunteer program including volunteer newsletter, Facebook group, volunteer portal and emails;
  • Terminating the volunteer relationship of an individual who may not be appropriate for the program

Commitment:

  • Dedicate 15 to 20 hours per week;
  • Be available to work some evenings and weekends;
  • Be able to Volunteer at least for one year

In your second year, you are able to apply for a Volunteer Manager position and be compensated for your hard work.
