ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross - Central Florida & USVI

Purpose: This position supports the Regional Volunteer Services Department. The Regional Nurse Leader (RNL) is a front-line leader of the Nursing Network who partners with the Regional Volunteer Services Officer (RVSO) to recruit, engage, and recognize health and mental health professional volunteers per regional needs. The RNL provides guidance on nursing and health matters, well-being and Academic Service-Learning helping build health and mental health professional capacity in the region. RNLs collaborate to promote volunteer engagement, recognition, retention, and satisfaction across the business lines and work to achieve the Chief Nurse Initiatives.

Volunteer Availability:

☒ During business hours ☒ Volunteer in the office ☐ Only during a large disaster response

☐ Respond to disasters that happen everyday ☒ Volunteer from home

☒ On weekends and/or evenings ☒ I'm flexible

Key Responsibilities:

· Work with RVSO to set annual goals addressing one or more of the following five areas:

* Nursing and other health professional recruitment

§ Proactively support and guide Red Cross units in volunteer recruitment, to build health professional capacity across all business lines and at all levels of the organization in support of organizational and regional priorities.

§ Collaborate with health related organizations per region and national guidance.

§ Assist units in volunteer recruitment to reflect community demographics.

* Nursing and other health professional engagement

§ Support lines of service leads in engaging nurses and other health professionals

§ In coordination with Red Cross leaders, work with existing community partners (nursing, non-nursing, and health-related) and maintain updated listing of contacts and activities.

* Nursing and other health professional recognition

§ Nominate nurses and other health professionals for awards

§ Write/facilitate articles for the nursing newsletter

§ Regularly communicate nursing and health-related successes (e.g., awards, media coverage, projects) to other Nursing Network leaders and through other communication venues.

* Academic Service-Learning

§ Help facilitate, support and grow relationships with academic organizations

§ Serve as AS-L Volunteer Coordinator and/or champion

* Workforce well-being

§ Support region by promoting use of the Well-being toolkit, accessing resilience and other training

· Work collaboratively to achieve the Chief Nurse Initiatives.

* Coordinate meetings for regional nurses and other health and mental health professionals, engaging colleagues and partners as appropriate in support of the Chief Nurse Initiatives.

· Build a team by recruiting Nursing Network Team Members

· Establish good working relationships with key leaders at the regional level (e.g., RVSO, business line leadership (including health and mental health professional leadership), CEO, etc.)

· Encourage health professional volunteers to enter their license information in Volunteer Connection and submit all volunteer hours.

· Submit all RNL volunteer hours in Volunteer Connection on at least a monthly basis and maintain an updated Volunteer Connection profile.

· Complete annual report on goals and achievements

· RNLs should recruit for and mentor their own replacements in consultation with RVSOs and DNLs

Qualification:

· Current, unencumbered, active licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN preferred) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) / Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, and no encumbered license or adverse action by any state/territory Board of Nursing

· Knowledge of Red Cross structure, systems, and programs/services

· Cultural sensitivity and awareness

· Enthusiasm about Red Cross mission and programs

· Willingness to become familiar with ALL Red Cross business lines

· Willingness to collaborate with other nurses and health professionals

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills

· Experience with team and relationship building, talent management, and succession planning skills

· Understand the value and roles of nurses and other health professional volunteers

· Ability to manage projects, collaborate, lead change, motivate others and work with remote teams

Acquaintance with local nurses, people, businesses, churches, schools, and organizations

· Access to and ability to use telephonic and computer technology, basic office software (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, email), and social media for virtual interaction

Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies.
