Volunteer responsibilities may include: passing out playbills, setting up and breaking down chairs, collecting surveys, cleaning up at the end of the night, directing patrons to facilities, accessibility services, assisting with rental chair operations, and other duties assigned by the Front of House staff. Volunteers arrive 1.5-2 hours before show time and are finished 15-30 min after the performance ends. All volunteers are invited to view the production from the Friends Section, our reserved donor seating area, when not performing duties and have access to discounted concessions and merchandise. Description

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (CSC), best known for its annual free performances on the Boston Common, is a non-profit organization founded in 1996, dedicated to the core values of artistic excellence, accessibility, and education. CSC’s Free Shakespeare on the Common has served over one million audience members over its 23-year history, and has become a beloved summer tradition enjoyed by nearly 75,000 people annually.

CSC fulfills its educational mission with actor-training programs for pre-professional and professional actors through the summer Apprentice program and CSC2. To learn more about these programs, visit www.commshakes.org.
